When someone walks into a Wilson's shop with a city commute and a sensible budget, the Hiboy S2 is usually the first electric scooter we roll off the floor. It doesn't chase spec-sheet drama. It does the ordinary things — accelerating from a light, holding speed on a bridge ramp, folding at the office door — well enough that you stop thinking about the machine and just ride.

Motor

350W rated. 500W when the hill shows up.

The brushless hub motor holds 19 mph on the flat and pulls up 15% grades — which covers bridge approaches and most of what New York and San Francisco streets throw at a rider.

Quiet, direct, and nothing to oil or adjust.

Riding modes

One mode for range. One for speed.

Drive mode caps the S2 at 13 mph and stretches the battery for longer days. Sport mode opens up the full 19 mph. Switching is a double-press on the dash — red S for Sport, green S for Drive — so you can drop to the calmer mode on a crowded block without stopping.

App

Settings live in your pocket

Pair the Hiboy app once and it handles the rest:

  • Lock the electric scooter remotely
  • Lights on and off from your phone
  • Speed limits and cruise-control behavior
  • Riding-mode switching and one-tap pairing

Battery

UL-certified, 17 miles a charge

The 36V 7.5Ah lithium pack is UL 2272 certified — the safety standard that matters if you charge indoors, and a legal requirement for riding in New York City. A full charge takes 3 to 5 hours, so most riders top up every second or third day, not every night.

NYC-legal from the day you buy it.

"It does the ordinary things so well that you stop thinking about the machine — and that's the whole point of a commuter."

— The Wilson's team, on why the S2 keeps selling
Lighting

Three lights, so you're seen from every angle

Most electric scooters at this price ship with one light. The S2 carries three — and the third is the one that matters most at a dark cross street.

  • LED headlightLights the road ahead and makes you visible to oncoming traffic.
  • LED taillightKeeps you visible to the traffic coming up behind you, block after block.
  • Side lightsThe one cheaper rides skip — seen from the angle a turning car actually approaches.

Ride comfort

Rear shocks and flat-proof tires

Twin spring shock absorbers on the rear wheel soak up expansion joints, curb cuts, and rough pavement — stiffness adjusts with a wrench. Up front and back, 8.5-inch honeycomb tires are solid with molded air channels: flat-proof by design, with more cushion than an old-style solid tire.

No tubes to puncture. No pump in your bag.

Cruise control

Set your speed. Rest your thumb.

Hold the throttle steady for five seconds and the S2 beeps and holds that speed on its own — a small feature that makes a long bridge or greenway stretch noticeably more comfortable.

Folding

Flip the lever. Carry it anywhere.

Fold the stem and the hook latches onto the rear fender — the whole electric scooter stands 19.3 inches tall. It fits in a car trunk, under a desk, or in a hallway closet, and at 35 lbs it's carryable up a flight of stairs.

FAQ

Hiboy S2 questions, answered

How fast does the Hiboy S2 go?

19 mph in Sport mode. Drive mode caps it at 13 mph for calmer riding and longer battery life.

How far does it go on a charge?

Up to 17 miles. Real-world range depends on rider weight, hills, and speed — most commuters see enough for two to three days of a typical NYC commute between charges.

How long does charging take?

3 to 5 hours from empty on the included charger.

Is the S2 legal to ride in New York City?

Yes. Its 19 mph top speed sits under the city's 20 mph e-scooter limit, and its battery is UL 2272 certified, which NYC requires.

Can it handle hills?

It climbs grades up to 15%, which covers bridge approaches and most city hills. If your route has steeper sustained climbs, ask us about a stronger model when you visit — that's exactly what a test ride is for.

Do the tires go flat?

No. The 8.5-inch honeycomb tires are solid with air pockets molded in — there's no tube to puncture and nothing to inflate.

Can I ride it in the rain?

The S2 is IPX4 rated, which handles light rain and splashes. It's not built for deep water. If your electric scooter has been soaked or the battery got wet, don't charge it — bring it straight into any Wilson's shop.

What's the weight limit?

220 lbs (100 kg). Rider height range is 4'11" to 6'1".

Which version should I get?

Basic is the standard electric scooter. Add the U-Lock if you park outside, the Seat if your rides run past twenty minutes, or the 2-Pack for two riders. All four are in the option picker at the top of this page.

Where can I get it serviced?

Any of Wilson's six shops in New York and California — walk in, no appointment needed. The simple inspection is free, and our technicians tell you what we find before any work starts.

Does it come assembled?

Pick it up in-store and yes — built, charged, and adjusted before you roll out. Shipped orders need only the handlebars attached with the four included screws and Allen wrench.

Is there a warranty?

One year against manufacturing defects, and Wilson's handles the claim with Hiboy for you. Wear items like tires and brake pads aren't covered, same as any brand.
