NAVEE KG05 · Kevin Garnett Edition

Twenty-two miles, or thirty-seven

The NAVEE KG05 electric bike has a throttle and it has pedals, and NAVEE publishes a separate range for each. Which one you use is the single biggest decision you make about how far it goes.

The two drive modes of the KG05 and the range each returns One starting point splitting into two paths: pure electric on the throttle returning twenty-two miles, and pedal assist returning thirty-seven miles. START 22 miles PURE ELECTRIC 37 miles PEDAL ASSIST

Pure electric is the moped-style way to ride it: twist and go, feet on the pegs, 22 miles. It is the mode most people use most of the time, and 20 mph is the default top speed.

Pedal assist adds your own effort to the motor’s and takes the same battery fifteen miles further. Nothing else you can do to an electric bike buys that much range.

What the NAVEE KG05 electric bike rides on

The tires are KENDA 20 by 4.0-inch fat tires. Four inches of tire at low pressure is an air spring in its own right, which is why a fat tire electric bike feels composed on surfaces that would unsettle a narrow one — gravel paths, sand, packed snow, broken city asphalt.

Behind them is a front fork with rear dual suspension, so both wheels are sprung as well.

Braking is dual hydraulic disc. On a machine rated to carry 330 lbs, hydraulic actuation is what keeps the lever feel consistent whether you are riding solo or loaded.

NAVEE rates climbing at 10 to 15 degrees.

Tap to unlock, and a speed you set

NFC and password unlocking. Tap the card or key fob to the frame and it wakes, or enter a passcode. No key to lose out of a pocket and nothing to leave in a jacket at home.

A speed range you choose. The default is 20 mph, and NAVEE publishes an adjustable range from 12 to 32 mph — so it can be set to whatever your local rules and your own preference call for. We will set it with you and talk through what applies where you ride.

NAVEE publishes range twice for this machine, once on the throttle alone and once with pedal assist, because it is genuinely two different figures. Top speed is quoted as a 20 mph default within a 12 to 32 mph adjustable range; we set it with you in the shop.

Questions

NAVEE KG05, answered

How far does the NAVEE KG05 go on a charge?

NAVEE publishes two figures because there are two ways to ride it: 22 miles on the throttle alone, and 37 miles using pedal assist. Adding your own effort to the motor’s takes the same battery fifteen miles further, which is more than any other single change you can make.

How fast does it go?

The default top speed is 20 mph, and NAVEE publishes an adjustable range from 12 to 32 mph. We will set it with you in the shop and talk through what applies where you ride.

What is pedal assist?

The motor adds to your pedalling rather than replacing it. You still turn the cranks, and the motor makes it feel easy. It is the mode that stretches range, and it is the reason an electric bike with pedals goes further than one without.

What size are the tires?

KENDA 20 by 4.0 inch fat tires. Four inches of tire at low pressure works as an air spring in its own right, which is why a fat tire electric bike stays composed on gravel, sand, packed snow and broken asphalt.

Does it have suspension?

Yes — a front fork with rear dual suspension, so both wheels are sprung on top of what the fat tires already absorb.

What brakes does it use?

Dual hydraulic disc brakes. On a machine rated to carry 330 lbs, hydraulic actuation is what keeps lever feel consistent whether you are riding solo or fully loaded.

How much weight can it carry?

330 lbs, which is the highest rating in the NAVEE range and generous enough for a rider plus cargo.

How does the NFC unlock work?

Tap the card or fob to the frame and the electric bike wakes. There is a password option as well, so there is no key to lose out of a pocket and nothing to leave in a jacket at home.

How long does it take to charge?

Seven and a half to nine hours from the 48V 14.5Ah pack, which makes it an overnight charge.

How steep a hill can it climb?

NAVEE rates it at 10 to 15 degrees.

Can it get wet?

It carries a water-resistance rating, so light rain and wet roads are within it. Avoid standing water. One safety point worth stating plainly: never charge an electric bike that is wet, or one whose battery looks swollen or damaged. Bring it straight in to us instead.

How heavy is it?

104.7 lbs net, measuring 1780 by 715 by 1250 mm. It is a moped-style machine rather than a folding one, so it wants a shed, a garage or a ground-floor hallway.

Can I add a rack or change the seat?

Yes. NAVEE offers interchangeable accessories for the KG05, from cargo-ready setups to a clean single-seat configuration. Tell us how you want it configured and we will fit it before you take it away.

Why is it called the Kevin Garnett Edition?

That is NAVEE’s own name for this model, which they produce as a signature edition. It refers to the trim and finish rather than to any change in the mechanical specification.

What warranty comes with it?

A year of cover through us as standard, and we handle any claim with NAVEE for you. NAVEE is a brand we carry rather than one we design, so the three-year cover on Wilson’s-designed rides does not apply here.

Who services it, and can you get parts?

Our own technicians, at all six shops, with express service available at every one. We service any brand, whether you bought it from us or not.
