The details up front

Four touches you notice on day one

Color-matched deck

The grip tape matches the frame color — Blue deck on the Blue build, Red on Red — for a look that reads as one piece, not parts.

Front & side lighting

Auto color-changing side lights cycle red, green and blue, joined by upgraded dual taillights and new front turn signals.

NFC display

Tap to unlock — and the card’s credentials can be loaded onto wristbands, watches or phones (compatible devices only).

Non-slip grips

Textured grips that fill the hand properly, staying planted through vibration and weather.

Powerful dual motor

2 × 1200W, quick-release, honestly rated

The upgraded quick-release motors make wheel and tire service an unplug-and-click job. On power, Nanrobot publishes it straight and so do we: 42 mph under optimal conditions, 38–40 mph in average riding — still comfortably ahead of city traffic.

Exceptional battery

1,196 watt-hours with a brain

The 52V 23Ah pack runs 21700 cells managed by an intelligent BMS that watches temperature, charge and discharge so you don’t have to. Two charge ports mean a second charger cuts charging time roughly in half.

Lighting system

1,000 lumens forward, color everywhere else

The headlight throws a wide, long 1,000-lumen beam that makes night riding genuinely comfortable, not just legal. Tri-color side lights, front turn indicators, and enhanced rear brake lights and signals wrap visibility all the way around.

  • 1,000-lumen wide-beam headlight
  • Tri-color auto-cycling side lights
  • Turn signals front and rear, upgraded dual taillights

10” off-road tires

Aggressive tread, split-rim convenience

Deep-tread 10” tires transition smoothly between asphalt, rocky ground and muddy trails. The split-rim wheel design makes tire removal far easier when service day comes — a detail our technicians appreciate as much as riders do.

Suspension

Sprung at both ends, C-type geometry

Front and rear spring suspension with C-type architecture soaks up cracks, joints and trail chatter. Riders upgrading from the previous D4+ consistently call this the difference they feel first — long rides simply stop being tiring.

NUTT hydraulic brake + EBS

Gold-standard stopping, two-finger effort

Dual NUTT hydraulic discs with electronic braking deliver precise, modulated stops across any terrain. Hydraulics stay consistent in the wet and never need the white-knuckle squeeze mechanical brakes demand.

Adjustable handlebar

Three heights, every rider

The stem adjusts between low, medium and high positions, so a household of different heights can share one machine — or you can fine-tune your own stance for comfort at speed.

  • Low / medium / high stem positions
  • Clean cockpit with center display and thumb controls
  • NFC reader built into the display

Folding and size

Folds flat at 70.55 lbs — the light one

This is the most manageable machine in Nanrobot’s performance range: 70.55 lbs, folding flat for car trunks and closets. If you need to carry your ride up stairs occasionally, this is the model that forgives you.

Questions riders ask

Nanrobot D4+MAX FAQ

How fast does the D4+MAX actually go?
Nanrobot rates it at 42 mph in optimal conditions and 38–40 mph in average riding — figures riders regularly confirm. Long-press the “+” button to switch between single and dual motor modes.
What range should I expect?
Up to 40 miles at an easy pace on a full charge. Ridden aggressively in dual-motor mode, plan on 25+ miles — still several days of typical commuting between plug-ins.
How does the NFC unlock work?
Tap the included NFC card against the display to unlock. The credentials can also be loaded onto wristbands, watches or phones (compatible devices only), so your key can live on your wrist.
Blue or Red — any difference beyond the frame color?
None — identical hardware, and both versions run blue side lights. Even the deck grip tape is color-matched to each frame.
Is the steering damper included?
No — the D4+MAX supports a steering damper but it’s sold separately. Riders who spend time near top speed often add one; ask us when you visit.
How long does charging take?
10–12 hours on the included charger. The deck has two charge ports, so adding a second charger roughly halves that.
Is the battery removable?
Yes, though it’s not a quick-swap design — removal means opening the deck and disconnecting the wiring, which is a job for our technicians rather than a parking-lot swap.
How heavy is it?
70.55 lbs — the lightest machine in Nanrobot’s performance range, and the one to pick if stairs are part of your daily reality.
What’s the weight limit?
265 lbs max load. If you need more headroom, the D6+MAX and N6 72V carry 330 lbs.
Are the tires easy to service?
Easier than most — the wheels use a split-rim design so the tire comes off without wrestling, and the tires run inner tubes. Our technicians handle tire work in the shop.
Is it water resistant and certified?
IP54 rated — fine for damp roads and light rain, not standing water. The build is UL2272 certified. And never charge a wet or swollen battery — bring it straight in to us.
Does it have cruise control and a speed-limit mode?
Both — cruise engages automatically after holding a steady speed (and can be disabled), and a 15.5 mph limit mode caps it for paths and local rules. Always follow your local regulations.
Can I test ride one?
Yes — come compare the Blue and Red in person and feel it move: find your nearest Wilson’s shop.
Who services it after purchase?
Our technicians, in the shop — tires, brakes, batteries and diagnostics, any brand, any issue.
