NAVEE Cyber X

About forty minutes of Saturday

Six miles and 9.5 mph are hard numbers to picture. Put them together and they turn into something a parent can actually plan around: roughly forty minutes of continuous riding on one charge of the NAVEE Cyber X kids electric dirt bike, and rather longer than that in practice, because no child rides flat out without stopping.

A charge, drawn as time on a clock face A clock face with roughly forty minutes shaded, showing how long six miles at nine and a half miles an hour takes. 40 MINUTES, FLAT OUT
Six miles, at 9.5 mphNAVEE’s published range and top speed. Ridden the way children actually ride — stopping, turning round, showing you something — a charge lasts a good deal longer than the clock suggests.

9.5 mph is a jogFast enough to be exciting for a young rider, slow enough that you can keep up on foot. That is the right speed for a first dirt bike.

What the NAVEE Cyber X kids electric dirt bike is made of

A solid steel frame. On a first dirt bike that matters more than any other material choice, because the machine is going to be laid down, picked up and laid down again, and steel takes that without complaint.

The brake is a rear drum — fully enclosed, so mud and water never reach the friction surface, and predictable rather than sharp, which is what a young rider learning to modulate a brake needs.

The tires are 8-inch, chunky and low, which keeps the seat height and the centre of gravity where a small rider can manage them.

The motor is 200W peak, on a 14.4V 57.7Wh battery that charges in five hours.

Three things worth doing

Somewhere legal and open. Dirt bikes are generally for private land and off-road use, and the rules vary by state and city. Tell us where you are thinking of riding and we will tell you what applies.

Protective kit. A helmet is not optional, and gloves and knee pads are worth having on a first machine. We stock them, and we will make sure the helmet fits properly rather than approximately.

A safety point worth stating plainly, as with every electric ride we sell: never charge a machine that is wet, or one whose battery looks swollen or damaged. Bring it straight in to us instead.

Then it is 9.5 mph on a steel frame in a field, which is what a first dirt bike is supposed to be.

One note on the numbers: the specification sheet lists 8-inch tires while one line of NAVEE's body copy says 10-inch. We publish the sheet figure and have raised the difference with them. The final group lists figures NAVEE publishes in their product copy for this model rather than in the specification table itself. We reproduce them because they are useful and because they are NAVEE’s own; nothing on this page is inferred.

Questions

NAVEE Cyber X, answered

How fast does the NAVEE Cyber X go?

9.5 mph, which is roughly a jog — fast enough to be genuinely exciting for a young rider, and slow enough that an adult can keep up on foot. That is the right speed for a first dirt bike.

How long does a charge last?

NAVEE rates it at 6 miles, which works out at about forty minutes of continuous riding. Ridden the way children actually ride — stopping, turning round, showing you something — a charge lasts a good deal longer than that.

How long does it take to charge?

Five hours from the 14.4V 57.7Wh battery, which makes it an overnight or an afternoon.

What is the frame made of?

Solid steel. On a first dirt bike that matters more than any other material choice, because the machine is going to be laid down, picked up and laid down again.

What brakes does it have?

A rear drum brake. It is fully enclosed, so mud and water never reach the friction surface, and its feel is predictable rather than sharp — which is what a young rider learning to modulate a brake needs.

What size are the tires?

NAVEE's specification sheet lists 8-inch tires; one line of their body copy says 10-inch. We publish the sheet figure and have raised the difference with them.

Can it get wet?

It carries a water-resistance rating, so light rain and wet roads are within it. Avoid standing water. One safety point worth stating plainly: never charge an electric dirt bike that is wet, or one whose battery looks swollen or damaged. Bring it straight in to us instead.

Where can my child ride it?

Dirt bikes are generally intended for private land and off-road use, and the rules vary by state and city. Tell us where you are thinking of riding and we will tell you what applies. NAVEE make the same point about checking local regulations.

What safety kit do we need?

A helmet is not optional, and gloves and knee pads are worth having on a first machine. We stock them and we will make sure the helmet fits properly rather than approximately.

What age is the Cyber X for?

NAVEE does not publish an age range for this model. Fit is what decides it: a child should be able to get both feet down comfortably and reach the brake lever without stretching. Bring them into any of our shops and we will check it properly in a minute.

Cyber X or Cyber X Pro?

The Cyber X Pro is the step up: 350W peak instead of 200W, 15.5 mph instead of 9.5, 9 miles instead of 6, and a rear spring for suspension. The Cyber X is the gentler, more affordable first machine.

What warranty comes with it?

A year of cover through us as standard, and we handle any claim with NAVEE for you. NAVEE is a brand we carry rather than one we design, so the three-year cover on Wilson’s-designed rides does not apply here.

Who services it, and can you get parts?

Our own technicians, at all six shops, with express service available at every one. We service any brand, whether you bought it from us or not.
