Top speed is identical. Both do 19 mph. The Pro is not the faster ride — it is the one that goes further, rolls over more, and puts charge back into the battery when you brake.

Twenty-five miles is a number. Here is what it means.
Range on a spec sheet is abstract. What you actually want to know is how often you will be plugging it in. Move the slider to your one-way trip.
At 4 miles each way, a full charge covers roughly three days of commuting.
Based on Hiboy’s rated 25-mile maximum. Real-world range is always lower and depends on rider weight, hills, temperature and how much of the ride is at full throttle — treat this as the ceiling, not the promise. A full charge takes 4 to 6 hours.
The brakes put charge back in
Every time you slow down or roll down a hill, the S2 Pro’s motor works backwards — turning momentum you were going to lose as heat into charge that goes back into the 36V 11.6Ah pack.
On a flat run it is a modest gain. On a route with real descents, or in stop-start city traffic where you are on and off the brakes constantly, it is the difference between arriving with charge to spare and arriving nervous. It takes some wear off the brake pads too, which is one fewer thing to replace.
It is the clearest single reason to take the Pro over the S2, and it is worth feeling for yourself before you decide — which is what the demo fleet at our shops is for.

How fast does the Hiboy S2 Pro go?
19 mph in its fastest mode — the same top speed as the standard S2. That sits under New York City’s 20 mph limit for electric scooters, which is deliberate on Hiboy’s part. The Pro’s extra motor power shows up in acceleration and hill holding rather than in a higher number.
What is the real range of the Hiboy S2 Pro?
Hiboy rates it at 25 miles, and that is a best case: a lighter rider, flat ground, mild weather, moderate speed. Expect less in the real world — hills, cold, a heavier rider and full-throttle riding all take a share. For most commutes under eight miles each way it means charging every second or third day rather than nightly.
How long does the Hiboy S2 Pro take to charge?
4 to 6 hours from empty, using the charger in the box. The 36V 11.6Ah pack is meaningfully bigger than the S2’s, which is why it takes about an hour longer.
Should I buy the S2 or the S2 Pro?
If your round trip is comfortably under fifteen miles and you mostly ride flat, the S2 does the job and saves you money. Take the Pro if your commute is longer, your route has real hills, you want the bigger tires for rough streets, or you want regenerative braking. Both are on the floor at our shops and you are welcome to ride them back to back.
Can the Hiboy S2 Pro climb hills?
Hiboy rates it to 15 degrees. In practice the 500W motor — 600W at peak — handles bridge ramps and the graded streets around the city without dropping to walking pace, which is the test most riders actually care about. Steeper and heavier means slower, as with any single-motor electric scooter.
What is regenerative braking, and does it matter?
When you brake or coast downhill, the motor runs in reverse and feeds some of that energy back into the battery instead of shedding it as heat. It will not double your range, but on a hilly route or in stop-start traffic it recovers a useful amount and takes some wear off the brake pads. The standard S2 does not have it.
What is the advantage of 10-inch honeycomb tires?
They are solid rather than air-filled, so there is nothing to puncture and no pressure to keep an eye on. The 10-inch diameter — an inch and a half more than the S2 — rolls over potholes, expansion joints and curb edges with less drama. The trade-off is that solid tires cushion less than pneumatic ones, which is why the rear shocks matter here.
Does the Hiboy S2 Pro have suspension?
Yes — rear dual shock absorbers. Paired springs at the back, which is what keeps a solid-tire ride civil over broken asphalt.
Is the Hiboy S2 Pro waterproof?
It is IPX4 rated, which means it copes with splashes and light rain — not standing water, not a jet wash, and not being left out in a storm. One safety point worth being blunt about: never charge an electric scooter that is wet, or one whose battery looks swollen or deformed. Bring it straight in to us instead.
What is the maximum rider weight?
220 lbs, or 100 kg — the same as the standard S2. Riding near the limit costs you range and hill performance, so if you are close to it, the Pro’s larger battery is the more sensible of the two.
What does the Hiboy app control?
Riding modes, cruise control, the speed limit, the lights, brake response, and locking or unlocking the ride. It pairs over Bluetooth in a single tap. The app is not required to ride — everything essential works from the dashboard.
Does it have cruise control?
Yes. Hold a speed and it maintains it, so you are not holding the throttle for the length of a long straight run. It can be switched on or off in the app.
Is the Hiboy S2 Pro safe to ride at night?
It ships with a headlight, a taillight and side lights, so you have a visible profile from the side as well as front and back — which is what matters most at junctions. As with any electric scooter, a helmet and something reflective do more for you after dark than the lights alone.
Can I add a seat to the Hiboy S2 Pro?
Yes. There is a With Seat version, and the seat can also be fitted afterwards. If you are choosing between them, take the seat if you regularly ride longer than about twenty minutes at a stretch. We can fit one at any of our shops.
How tall do I need to be?
Hiboy recommends riders between 5′1″ and 6′3″, with a 41.3-inch standing height at the handlebar. Near either end of that, come and stand on one — five minutes on the demo fleet tells you more than the number does.
Who is the Hiboy S2 Pro for?
Someone with a daily commute in the five to twelve mile range who would rather charge every few days than every night, on streets rough enough that 8.5-inch tires would get tiring. If that is not you, the standard S2 is the better value and we will tell you so.
