The longest range in the S2 family, in the lightest body
Range and weight usually pull against each other — a bigger battery is a heavier ride. The Nova is the exception in this family, and it is the reason to look at it.
Every other ride in the S2 family is heavier, and none of them goes as far on a charge. The Nova also keeps the hybrid tires and adds rear suspension, so nothing was traded away to get there.

Thirty-four pounds is the number that decides whether an electric scooter becomes part of your day or lives in a hallway. This is what it looks like when it is light enough.
A bigger battery that didn’t cost you the carry
The Nova runs a 36V 9Ah pack — more capacity than the S2 or the S2 SE — and still comes in at 34.5 lbs. That is the whole trick of this model, and it is why it is the one we point commuters at when the ride involves stairs or a train at either end.
Twenty miles is Hiboy’s rated maximum. In practice it means a five or six mile commute each way goes two full days between charges, and a weekend of short trips barely touches it.
The 350W motor holds 15% inclines, which covers the bridge ramps and graded streets you meet around the city, and tops out at 19 mph.
Hybrid tires and rear suspension, together
The front tire is solid, so there is nothing to puncture on the wheel you steer with. The rear is air-filled, cushioning the end that carries most of your weight. On the Nova those work alongside a rear suspension unit rather than in place of one — two systems doing the same job.
On broken asphalt, expansion joints and curb edges, that pairing is what you feel. It is the difference between a ride you take the direct route on and one you plan around the good roads.
Stopping is handled by an electronic brake and a rear drum with eABS, and the drum sits sealed inside the wheel where weather and road grit never reach it.
A redesigned handlebar, and a lower starting height
The Nova’s handlebar was extended to 19.2 inches and reworked for a more upright, balanced riding posture. The practical result is that it fits riders from 4′11″ — two inches shorter than the rest of the S2 family accommodates. If you have found other electric scooters a stretch to stand on comfortably, this is the one in the range to come and try.

How fast does the Hiboy S2 Nova go?
19 mph in its fastest mode, which sits under New York City’s 20 mph limit for electric scooters. Speed modes are switchable from the dashboard or the app.
What is the range on a charge?
Up to 20 miles — the most of any ride in the S2 family. As always, the figure you see depends on rider weight, terrain, temperature and speed, but a five or six mile commute each way comfortably covers two days between charges.
How long does it take to charge?
About 5.5 hours from empty with the charger supplied. An overnight charge covers it with hours in hand.
What makes the Nova different from the other S2 models?

Why one solid tire and one air-filled tire?
Each does the job it is best at. A solid front tire cannot puncture, which matters most on the wheel you steer with. An air-filled rear tire cushions the end carrying most of your weight. On the Nova they work alongside the rear suspension as well.

Yes — rear suspension, working together with the air-filled rear tire. Two systems absorbing the same bumps, which is why it rides smoothly for a ride this light.

What brakes does it use?

Is it waterproof?
The body is IPX4 rated and the battery is rated higher at IPX5, so light rain is well within what it handles. One safety point worth stating plainly: never charge an electric scooter that is wet, or one whose battery looks swollen or deformed. Bring it straight in to us instead.
