Hiboy Joy Haul

There is a shark under the seat, and it holds their snacks

Hiboy calls him Chompy Pompy. He is a zippered bag shaped like a friendly shark, bolted under the saddle, and he is the reason a five-year-old will pick this one out of a lineup. Everything else is the same well-built kids electric scooter underneath.

9 mph top speed · 5 miles per charge · 3 speed modes · 110 lb limit · ages 5 to 8

Sitting and standing are both proper riding positions here. Most children switch between them within one outing.
The bag

A zippered belly, and everything goes in it

Toys, a snack, a jumper they took off, whatever they found in the park and will not leave behind. The bag sits between the seat post and the rear wheel, low and central, so a loaded one does not upset the handling.

It is the thing that turns a ride into a trip. A child with somewhere to put their stuff stays out longer, which is the entire point of buying them one.

  • Seat Cushioned, fitted
  • Deck Wide, textured rubber

Stopping

Three brakes, one stop

Most kids electric scooters have one brake. The Joy Haul has three, and they are not alternatives. They work together so no single one has to do everything at once.

  • Electronic brakeThe motor slows the wheel the instant the lever moves, before anything mechanical engages.
  • Drum brakeSealed inside the rear hub, where water and grit cannot reach it.
  • Foot brakeThe rear fender, for the child who instinctively steps rather than squeezes.
A smooth stop Shared between three, so none of them grabs.
You set the pace

Three modes, and a battery that is certified

Eco at 3 mph for a first outing, Standard at 6 once they can steer and stop without thinking, Sport at 9 when you decide they have earned it. A 100W motor means nine is the ceiling, not a starting point.

The battery is UL 2272 certified with protection built in against overcharging and overheating, and the whole thing is made from non-toxic materials with rounded edges. Eight and a half inch puncture-resistant tires handle sidewalks, brick and park paths without ever needing a pump.

  • Modes 3 / 6 / 9 mph
  • Battery 56.16Wh, UL 2272
  • Tires 8.5″ puncture-resistant
  • Charge time 4.5 to 5.5 hours
  • Water resistance IPX4

Without the bag, the Q2 Lite is the same platform with a basket instead. For a younger child, the ES1 is capped at 5 mph. Here is every kids electric scooter we stock.

Questions

Hiboy Joy Haul, answered

What is the shark bag?

Hiboy calls it Chompy Pompy. It is a zippered storage bag shaped like a friendly shark, fitted under the seat, for toys, snacks and whatever else comes along.

What age is the Joy Haul for?

Hiboy sizes it for five to eight years old. The practical limit is the 110 lb weight rating.

How fast does it go?

Nine miles an hour at the top setting, with 6 and 3 mph below it. A 100W motor means nine is genuinely the ceiling.

Can I limit the speed?

Yes. Set Eco at 3 mph for a beginner and move up as your child gets confident. Modes change on the handlebar.

Can they sit down on it?

Yes. The cushioned seat is fitted, and the deck is wide enough to stand on properly. Most children use both in the same outing.

How does it brake?

Three ways at once. The motor brakes electronically, a drum brake sits inside the rear hub, and the rear fender works as a foot brake. Sharing the job is what keeps stops smooth.

Is the battery certified?

UL 2272, with built-in protection against overcharging and overheating.

Do the tires need pumping up?

No. They are 8.5-inch puncture-resistant tires, so there is nothing to inflate and nothing to go flat.

How far does it go on a charge?

Up to five miles. Rider weight, speed mode and surface all change the figure.

How long does it take to charge?

Four and a half to five and a half hours from empty.

How is it different from the Q2 Lite?

Same platform, same speeds, same tires and battery. The Joy Haul swaps the rear basket for the shark bag and adds a foot brake to the two the Q2 Lite already has.

Can it be ridden in the rain?

It is IPX4 rated, so damp ground and splashes are within what it handles. One safety point worth stating plainly: never charge an electric scooter that is wet, or one whose battery looks swollen. Bring it straight in to us instead.

What should they wear?

A helmet every time, and knee and elbow pads while they are learning. We size and fit both in store. Keep an adult nearby for the first few outings on the top mode.
