NAVEE Storm X Pro

A fork that knows which kind of bump it is

The headline on the NAVEE Storm X Pro electric dirt bike is 17 kilowatts. The specification riders will notice more often is the suspension: it damps high-speed and low-speed compression separately, and those are two genuinely different jobs.

High-speed compression
A sharp, fast impact into the fork A square-edged rock driving the wheel up quickly, with the high-speed damping circuit opening to let the oil through fast. FAST, SHARP

Square edges and rocks

A sharp-edged hit drives the wheel up quickly. The high-speed circuit lets oil through fast so the fork gets out of the way, and the impact does not reach the bars.

Low-speed compression
A slow, deep load into the fork A long compression under braking or through a berm, with the low-speed damping circuit metering the oil slowly to hold the fork up in its travel. SLOW, DEEP

Braking and berms

Hard braking or a long turn loads the fork slowly and deeply. The low-speed circuit meters the oil so the fork holds high in its travel and the steering stays accurate.

59.4 mph · 75 mi · 17kW · 500 N·m · IP65

Tuning them separately is what lets a fork be plush over rocks and still firm under the brakes. It is a specification usually found a good deal further up the market.

What the NAVEE Storm X Pro electric dirt bike runs on

A 17kW mid-drive motor producing 500 N·m of torque, for a 59.4 mph top speed. It is the most powerful thing in the NAVEE range by a considerable margin.

NAVEE’s specification sheet gives the pack as 40Ah at 70V, while their own description of the same machine says 72V 40Ah with Samsung cells. We publish both rather than pick one.

Range is 75 miles, which NAVEE attributes to eco mode, and a charge takes four hours.

It carries up to 220 lbs, weighs 68 kg, and measures 1890 by 775 by 1100 mm.

The chassis

A bigger front rotor, and a wider rear wheel

CST tires, 70/100-19 front and 90/90-18 rear. Where the Storm X runs matched nineteens, the Pro pairs a tall nineteen-inch front with a wider eighteen-inch rear — the classic arrangement for putting more power down without giving up the front wheel’s ability to roll obstacles.

A 220 mm front hydraulic disc with a 203 mm rear. The larger front rotor matches the extra speed: more swept area sheds more heat, which is what keeps lever feel consistent on a long descent.

200 mm of front travel, 85 mm at the rear, with the high and low-speed compression damping described above.

IP65 sealing — dust-tight and rated against water jets, so a wash-down after every session is entirely normal.

Full app support is included.

Two notes on the numbers. NAVEE's sheet gives the battery as 40Ah at 70V while their own description of the same machine says 72V 40Ah with Samsung cells; both appear here and we have asked them to confirm. And the sheet lists the wheelbase under a "pedal width" heading — the 1280 mm figure is the wheelbase.

Questions

NAVEE Storm X Pro, answered

How powerful is the NAVEE Storm X Pro?

A 17kW mid-drive motor producing 500 N·m of torque, for a 59.4 mph top speed. It is the most powerful machine in the NAVEE range by a considerable margin.

What is high and low-speed compression damping?

Two separate damping circuits inside the fork, tuned independently. The high-speed circuit deals with sharp impacts — square-edged rocks — by letting oil through quickly so the fork gets out of the way. The low-speed circuit handles slow, deep loads like hard braking or a long berm, metering the oil so the fork holds high in its travel and the steering stays accurate. Tuning them separately is what lets a fork be plush over rocks and still firm under the brakes.

How far does it go on a charge?

75 miles, which NAVEE attributes to eco mode, with a four-hour charge.

What is the battery?

NAVEE's specification sheet gives 40Ah at 70V, while their own description of the same machine says 72V 40Ah with Samsung cells. We publish both rather than choose one, and we have asked them to confirm which is current.

What wheels and tires does it use?

CST 70/100-19 at the front and 90/90-18 at the rear. A tall front wheel rolls obstacles rather than dropping into them, and the wider rear puts the power down — the classic arrangement for a machine with this much torque.

What brakes does it have?

A 220 mm hydraulic disc at the front and a 203 mm at the rear. The larger front rotor matches the extra speed: more swept area sheds more heat, which keeps lever feel consistent down a long descent.

How much suspension travel is there?

200 mm at the front and 85 mm at the rear, with the separately adjustable high and low-speed compression damping.

Is it waterproof?

It carries an IP65 rating, so light rain and wet roads are within it. Avoid standing water. One safety point worth stating plainly: never charge an electric dirt bike that is wet, or one whose battery looks swollen or damaged. Bring it straight in to us instead.

How much does it weigh and what can it carry?

68 kg, rated to carry 220 lbs, measuring 1890 by 775 by 1100 mm. It needs a van, a trailer or a pickup to move.

Is the Storm X Pro road legal?

Rules vary by state and city, and dirt bikes are generally intended for private land and off-road use. Tell us where you plan to ride and we will tell you what applies. NAVEE make the same point about checking local regulations.

Storm X Pro or Storm X?

The Storm X runs 10kW, 390 N·m and 53.1 mph on matched 19-inch wheels with 203 mm discs at both ends, for $500 less. The Pro adds 7 more kilowatts, 110 more newton-metres, the separately damped fork, a 220 mm front rotor and a wider rear wheel. Both quote 75 miles.

Is it suitable for a first dirt bike?

It is the most capable machine NAVEE makes, and we would generally start a newer rider on the Storm G instead. Come and talk it through — we will give you a straight answer rather than sell you the bigger one.

What warranty comes with it?

A year of cover through us as standard, and we handle any claim with NAVEE for you. NAVEE is a brand we carry rather than one we design, so the three-year cover on Wilson’s-designed rides does not apply here.

Who services it, and can you get parts?

Our own technicians, at all six shops, with express service available at every one. We service any brand, whether you bought it from us or not.
