The intelligent voice talks you through mounting, balancing and steering. It sounds gimmicky and it is not: having your hands and eyes free while something tells you what to do next is genuinely how people learn this fastest.
Beginner mode caps what the electric scooter will do until you have ridden 0.6 miles, after which it can be disabled or reset in the app. That distance is well chosen — it is roughly where most riders stop consciously balancing and start simply going where they look.
Segway rate it for ages 16 to 50 and riders 4 ft 3 in to 6 ft 6 in, carrying 88 to 220 lbs. Note the lower payload figure: a self-balancing electric scooter needs a minimum weight to work properly, which is unusual and worth knowing.

You steer a self-balancing electric scooter with your knees, so where the bar sits against them decides whether steering is intuitive or awkward. The S2’s adjusts from 25.4 to 30.3 inches.

That distance is well judged — it is roughly where most riders stop consciously balancing. Come and try one in the shop under supervision.

Yes, and this catches people out. Segway rate the payload at 88 to 220 lbs — a self-balancing electric scooter needs a minimum weight on it to balance correctly. If the rider is under 88 lbs, look at the S2 Kids instead, which is rated from 44 lbs.

What warranty comes with it?
A year of cover through us as standard, and we handle any claim with Segway for you. Segway is a brand we carry rather than one we design, so the three-year cover on Wilson’s-designed rides does not apply here.
