The battery comes out
Turn the key, lift out the pack, carry it inside. You charge a 4.8 lb battery on your kitchen counter instead of wrestling an electric scooter up a flight of stairs — and that one difference changes how the whole thing fits into a flat or an office.
Four movements, about ten seconds
Nothing to unbolt and no tools involved. The pack sits under the deck behind a lock, and it comes away in one motion.
Turn the key
A key lock holds the pack in place, so it stays put while you ride and while it is parked.
Lift it out
The 313Wh pack slides free of the deck. At 4.8 lbs it comes out one-handed.
Charge it anywhere
Indoors, at a desk, in a flat with no outlet near the door. Five to six hours to full.
Drop it back in
Seat it, turn the key back, and you are riding. Or swap in a second pack instead.

Nine-inch air tires on a wheel that splits apart
The S2R Plus runs 9-inch pneumatic tires at both ends — air-filled, so you can set the pressure to suit your weight and the roads you ride, with far more give over broken asphalt than a small solid tire offers.
The clever part is the wheel itself. It is built in two halves that separate, so a tire change does not mean fighting a tire over a fixed rim. Hiboy puts real numbers on it, and it is the sort of thing you appreciate the first time it matters.
Thirty-one and a half pounds, folded flat
This is the lightest ride in the S2 family, and with the battery out it is lighter still — useful if you are carrying it up to a third-floor flat in two trips rather than one.
Folded it stands under 19 inches tall, which is small enough for a car trunk, a hallway, or under a desk at work. It comes through the front door of any of our shops the same way.

How does the removable battery work?
The 313Wh pack sits under the deck behind a key lock. Turn the key, lift it out, and carry it wherever there is an outlet. It weighs 4.8 lbs, so it comes out one-handed, and it drops back in and locks in seconds.
Can I really double the range?
Yes. Carry a second pack and swap it when the first runs down, taking you from 22 miles to as much as 44 on a single outing. The spare battery is sold separately — we stock them and can pair one to your ride at the shop.
How fast does the Hiboy S2R Plus go?
19 mph, from a 350W brushless motor with 500W peak output. That sits under New York City’s 20 mph limit for electric scooters.
What is the range on a charge?
Up to 22 miles. As with any electric scooter the figure depends on rider weight, terrain, temperature and speed, but it comfortably covers a round trip of eight or nine miles with room in hand.
How long does it take to charge?
Five to six hours from empty. The advantage here is where you do it — the pack charges indoors on a desk or counter rather than needing the whole ride parked next to a socket.
Can it climb hills?
Yes — Hiboy rates it to 15 degrees, and the 500W peak output handles bridge ramps and the graded streets around the city.
What is the split wheel design?
The wheel is built in two halves that come apart, so a tire can be changed without levering it over a fixed rim. Hiboy rates it as 70% more efficient and half the work, and it makes the job quicker for us too when one comes into the shop.
Do the tires need pumping up?
They are 9-inch pneumatic tires, so the pressure is adjustable to suit your weight and the roads you ride — which is what gives them their cushioning. We check and set them free at any of our shops, and two spare inner tubes come in the box.
What brakes does it use?
A mechanical disc brake at the rear plus the motor’s electronic brake. Two independent systems working together for progressive, predictable stops.
Is it waterproof?
The body is IPX4 rated and the battery is rated higher at IPX5, so light rain is comfortably within what it handles. One safety point worth stating plainly: never charge an electric scooter or a battery pack that is wet, or one that looks swollen or deformed. Bring it straight in to us instead.
How long can I leave the battery unused?
Hiboy rates it at around three months of storage after a full charge. If it is going away for the winter, charge it fully first — and we will check it over for free when you bring it back out.
What can the app do?
Switch speed modes, review your ride data, set cruise control, control the lighting and take firmware updates, all over Bluetooth. Everything essential still works from the handlebar display.
How heavy is it to carry?
