Hiboy KS4 Pro

The strongest motor we put on a commuter

Rated power tells you what a motor will do all day. Peak power tells you what it can do for the ten seconds that actually matter: pulling into traffic, or halfway up a bridge with a headwind.

Rated
500W

What it holds continuously. Enough on its own to keep 19 mph on the flat without working hard.

Peak
750W

What it reaches when you ask for it. No other Hiboy we stock goes this high, and you feel it from a standstill.

The push

Power you can spend, and range that lasts

The KS4 Pro pairs that motor with a 36V 11.6Ah pack, which is the larger of the two battery sizes Hiboy fits to this class. Twenty-five miles per charge, and the power on tap does not fade as the battery drops the way a smaller pack does.

Bridge ramps and graded city streets go by at 15 degrees. What you notice first, though, is not hills. It is the pull away from a green light, which on a heavier commuter is usually the moment you wish you had bought more motor.

The hold

Both brakes fire together, on purpose

A front EABS working with a rear disc, applied at the same time rather than one after the other. Braking force lands across both wheels instead of piling onto one, which is what stops a rear wheel stepping out or a front-only stop pitching you forward.

On a ride with this much motor, the braking is the half of the design that earns its keep. Hiboy built them as a matched pair rather than bolting a disc onto an existing frame, and the difference shows in how settled it stays when you brake hard.

The ride

Dual rear suspension over ten-inch tires

Two shock units at the back rather than one, working under 10-inch honeycomb tires. The tires are solid, so a nail in the road is a non-event, and the springs handle what the tires cannot absorb on their own.

That pairing is the reason this one stays comfortable at the top of its speed range. Small tires and no suspension get busy above about 15 mph; this setup stays flat.

What you use on every ride

Smart LED dashboard

Speed, battery level and riding mode on a large display that stays readable in direct sun.

Three lights

Headlight, taillight and sidelights. The side lighting is what gives you a profile to a driver at a junction.

Cruise and speed control

Set a speed and hold it, or cap the top speed. Useful on a long stretch of protected lane, and useful if the ride gets shared.

Questions

Hiboy KS4 Pro, answered

How fast does the Hiboy KS4 Pro go?

19 mph, which sits under New York City’s 20 mph limit for electric scooters. The 750W peak output goes into acceleration and hill holding rather than a higher top speed.

What does 750W peak actually mean?

Rated power is what a motor sustains indefinitely; peak is what it delivers in bursts. The KS4 Pro is rated at 500W and peaks at 750W, so it has a reserve to call on when you pull away or hit a climb. It is the highest peak figure of any Hiboy we stock.

What is the range on a charge?

Up to 25 miles from the 36V 11.6Ah battery. Rider weight, terrain, temperature and speed all move that figure, as they do on any electric scooter.

How long does it take to charge?

Four to six hours from empty using the supplied charger.

Can the Hiboy KS4 Pro climb hills?

Yes. Hiboy rates it to 15 degrees, and the 750W peak gives it more in reserve on a long climb than a 500W-peak commuter has.

What is EABS braking?

An electronic anti-lock system on the front wheel. On the KS4 Pro it fires together with the rear disc so braking force is shared between both wheels, which keeps the ride settled under a hard stop.

Does it have suspension?

Dual rear suspension, working with 10-inch honeycomb tires. That combination is what keeps it comfortable at the top of its speed range.

Do the tires puncture?

No. They are solid honeycomb tires at both ends, so there is no tube, no pressure to check and nothing to repair at the roadside.

Is it waterproof?

It carries an IPX4 rating, which covers splashes and light rain. One safety point worth stating plainly: never charge an electric scooter that is wet, or one whose battery looks swollen. Bring it straight in to us instead.

What is the maximum rider weight?

220 lbs, or 100 kg. The extra motor reserve means it stays lively closer to that limit than a lower-powered commuter does.

How heavy is it to carry?

40.6 lbs, folding to 20.7 inches tall. It goes in a car trunk and through our shop doors, though at this weight most riders fold it for storage rather than for carrying far.

Can I add a seat?

Yes. There is a With Seat version, and a seat can be fitted later. We can do that at any of our shops.

Does it have cruise control?

Yes, along with adjustable speed control so you can cap the top speed. Both are set from the dashboard.

Who is the Hiboy KS4 Pro for?

Riders who want reserve rather than top speed: heavier riders, hillier routes, or anyone who has found a 350W commuter running out of pull. Come and ride one against a standard commuter and the difference is obvious inside a block.
