Suspension with nothing to service
Both ends of the E3 Pro are sprung on elastomer — a solid block that compresses and recovers. There is no oil in it, no seal to weep and nothing to service, which on an electric scooter at this price is the right answer.
What you get is a ride that takes the edge off kerb ramps, expansion joints and the general roughness of a city street, and keeps doing it years later without a workshop visit.
It is a different thing from the hydraulic damping on the F3 and the Max models, which control the rebound more precisely. On smooth city tarmac at 20 mph, most riders would struggle to tell you which they were on.

Thirty-four miles from 368 watt-hours
The battery is 368Wh, which is modest, and the range is 34 miles in Eco or 25 in Drive, which is not. The gap is SegRange — Segway tuning the motor, the electronics and their own algorithm together, which they reckon is worth up to 20% more mileage than the parts would give separately.
For a five-mile round trip, 25 miles of Drive-mode range is a working week on one charge.
The 256-colour lighting is the part every buyer notices in the shop, and it is more useful than it sounds: an electric scooter lit along its length is an electric scooter drivers see from the side.

What is elastomer suspension, and is it as good as hydraulic?
An elastomer is a solid block that compresses and recovers — no oil, no seals, nothing to service. It takes the edge off kerb ramps and rough tarmac and keeps doing it for years without a workshop visit. Hydraulic damping controls the rebound more precisely, which you would notice on broken ground; at 20 mph on city streets, most riders would not.
How much does it weigh?
40.1 lbs, which most adults can carry up a flight of stairs. It carries riders up to 265 lbs and Segway rate it for 5 ft 3 in and taller.
How steep a hill will it climb?
18%, which covers ordinary residential streets and shallow bridge approaches.
Is the E3 Pro waterproof?
It carries an IPX5 rating, so light rain and wet roads are within it. Avoid standing water. One safety point worth stating plainly: never charge an electric scooter that is wet, or one whose battery looks swollen or damaged. Bring it straight in to us instead.
What is SegRange?
Segway's own tuning of the motor, the electronics and their control algorithm as one system rather than three parts. They put it at up to 20% more mileage than the same hardware would give untuned, which is where 34 miles from a 368Wh pack comes from.
What is the 256-colour lighting for?
It looks good, and it also makes the electric scooter visible from the side, which is the angle most electric scooter lighting ignores and the angle that matters at a junction.
Is this a good first electric scooter?
It is the one we hand most new riders. Twenty miles an hour is plenty while you are learning, suspension at both ends makes the first month comfortable, and 40 lbs means it comes indoors with you. Ride it before you spend more.
E3 Pro or F3?
The F3 is $250 more and adds hydraulic front suspension, a bigger footboard, ten more miles of range and navigation on the display. If you ride daily and the route is rough, the F3 earns the difference. If not, the E3 Pro is the sensible buy.
Does it fold easily?
Yes — Segway fit a dual unlocking mechanism, so the fold is a deliberate two-step action rather than something that can let go on its own. We show you the sequence before you leave.
What warranty comes with it?
A year of cover through us as standard, and we handle any claim with Segway for you. Segway is a brand we carry rather than one we design, so the three-year cover on Wilson’s-designed rides does not apply here.
