Segway GT3 Pro

Fifty miles an hour, and eighty-six miles of it

Segway say four things about the GT3 Pro. Each one is a number that would be the headline on any other electric scooter, and together they make the fastest and longest-legged machine the brand sells.

What dual 3500W motors actually change

Two motors rather than one is not only about the total. It is that each wheel is asked for half the work, so both are driving and neither is spinning. That is what carries a 38% incline and what makes the electric scooter track straight when you open it up on a damp road.

Ultra Boost Mode is the setting that uses all of it: 0 to 30 mph in 3.9 seconds. That is not a commuting number. It is the number that decides whether you enjoy the thing.

The pack is 2160Wh on a 72-volt platform, which is where the 86-mile figure comes from — measured, as Segway state it, at a steady 15.5 mph.

SegRide

The system that keeps 50 mph sensible

Fifty miles an hour on an electric scooter asks a lot of the chassis, and Segway’s answer is the SegRide Stability Enhancement System. It works in the situations that catch riders out: high speed, aggressive turns, slick roads.

Underneath it, traction control trims power the instant a driven wheel turns faster than the road beneath it, and dual suspension keeps both wheels in contact with the ground for it to work with.

The tires are 11-inch self-healing, sealing punctures as they happen. On a machine that will be doing motorway-adjacent speeds, that is not a convenience feature.

None of this makes 50 mph safe on its own. Kit, road choice and a clear head do that, and we will talk it through honestly before you buy.

  • Stability — SegRide enhancement system
  • Traction — Traction control system
  • Suspension — Dual
  • Tires — 11″ self-healing
  • Acceleration — 0–30 mph in 3.9s

Worth saying plainly

This is the fastest thing we sell

“Fifty miles an hour is motorcycle territory on a machine you stand up on. We will sell you one, and we will also tell you where it is legal to ride it, what kit to wear, and why the first week should be spent well under the ceiling.”

Questions

Segway GT3 Pro, answered

How fast is the Segway GT3 Pro?

50 mph, from two 3500W motors making 7000W between them. It reaches 0 to 30 mph in about 3.9 seconds in Ultra Boost Mode. It is the fastest machine Segway sell and the fastest electric scooter we stock.

How far can it go on a charge?

Segway rate it at 86 miles measured at a steady 15.5 mph, from a 2160Wh battery on a 72-volt platform. Ride it near its top speed and that figure comes down a long way, as it does on any electric scooter.

Why does it let me limit the battery charge?

Because holding a lithium pack at 100% is what ages it fastest. Capping the charge at 80% when you do not need the full 86 miles is how the pack still holds its range in a few years. On a battery this large, that setting is worth real money.

How steep a hill will it climb?

38%, which is steeper than almost anything you will meet on a road. Two driven wheels are the reason: each is asked for half the work, so neither spins.

What is the SegRide Stability Enhancement System?

Segway's own system for keeping the electric scooter composed at speed, through hard turns and on slick surfaces. Traction control sits underneath it, trimming power the moment a wheel turns faster than the road under it.

Are the tires puncture resistant?

They are 11-inch self-healing, sealing punctures as they happen. At the speeds this electric scooter is capable of, that is a safety feature rather than a convenience.

Is it waterproof?

It carries a water-resistance rating, so light rain and wet roads are within it. Avoid standing water. One safety point worth stating plainly: never charge an electric scooter that is wet, or one whose battery looks swollen or damaged. Bring it straight in to us instead.

Is the GT3 Pro road legal?

That depends entirely on where you ride. Fifty miles an hour puts it outside what most places allow on a cycle path or a pavement, and rules vary by state and city. Tell us where you plan to ride and we will give you a straight answer rather than a sales one.

Is this a sensible first electric scooter?

Honestly, no — and we would rather say so. If you are new to riding, the Max G3 or the GT3 will teach you more and frighten you less. Come back for the Pro once you know what you want from it.

GT3 Pro or GT3?

The GT3 is 31 mph and 45 miles on a 2400W peak, for $1,000 less. The Pro nearly triples the power, adds 41 miles of range and takes the top speed to 50 mph. They are different machines rather than two trims of one.

Do you sell spare parts and accessories for it?

Yes, and we service it at all six shops. Segway parts availability is good, and our technicians work on any brand whether you bought it from us or not.

What warranty comes with it?

A year of cover through us as standard, and we handle any claim with Segway for you. Segway is a brand we carry rather than one we design, so the three-year cover on Wilson’s-designed rides does not apply here.

Who services it, and can you get parts?

Our own technicians, at all six shops, with express service available at every one. We service any brand, whether you bought it from us or not.
