Above the Max models and below the GT3 Pro sits a machine that will do 31 mph, carry 330 lbs and take a downpour without comment — and still folds and goes in a car. For a lot of riders this is the sensible top of the range.
30% climb · dual hydraulic · 11″ self-sealing · IPX6 · 87.1 lb
SegRide is Segway’s stability enhancement system, and this is where it earns its place: high speed, aggressive turns and slick roads are exactly where 87 lbs travelling at 31 mph needs help staying composed.
Traction control sits underneath it, trimming power the instant the driven wheel starts to outrun the road rather than after it has already let go.
It reaches 0 to 30 mph in about 9.5 seconds, which is brisk without being the kind of launch that catches you out.
The GT3 is sealed to IPX6, which covers powerful water jets from any direction rather than just road splash. Segway put it plainly: no need to seek shelter at the first sign of rain. For anyone riding year-round that is not a specification, it is the difference between an electric scooter you use in November and one you do not.
The GT3 runs hydraulic front double shock absorbers with a hydraulic rear trailing arm. A trailing arm keeps the rear wheel travelling in a controlled arc rather than simply moving up and down, which keeps it planted through a corner as well as over a bump.
Hydraulic damping at both ends is the difference you feel on a broken road: the wheel comes back down under control instead of bouncing, so the electric scooter stays composed rather than skittering.
It sits on 11-inch ultra-wide self-sealing tires, with 7.2 inches of ground clearance and a 40.9-inch wheelbase — a long, stable platform rather than a nimble one.
The 2.4-inch colour TFT display carries speed, ride mode and battery clearly enough to take in without dropping your eyes for long. At 31 mph that is not a luxury.
Segway rate the GT3 for riders 5 ft 3 in to 6 ft 6 in, aged 18 to 60. The bars are wide, the deck is long, and the whole thing is built around a rider standing square rather than perched.
None of these are things you operate. They are things that stop being your problem.
The GT3 appears on your iPhone in the same list as your keys and your headphones. Nothing to pair, nothing to subscribe to.
The headlight comes on as the light drops and switches between high and low by itself. One less thing to remember on the way home.
Segway’s updated battery management adds three functions on top of the existing protections, including reading the pack’s health directly rather than inferring it from how far you got.
The numbers describe a machine that is happier covering ground than threading traffic. That suits most people who buy one.
The top of the Segway electric scooter range, matched only by the GT3 Pro. Rider, a loaded pannier and a week of shopping all sit comfortably inside it.
It folds and it fits in a car. It is not something you carry up a flight of stairs at the end of a ride. If the electric scooter has to live above ground level, that is the one thing worth deciding before anything else.
899Wh refills in about 5.5 hours on 230V and about 6.5 on the 115V you have at home. Overnight either way.
Segway’s own technical specification for this model, in their groupings and their units.
Six shops across New York and California. Ride the GT3 against the Max G3 below it and the GT3 Pro above it in one visit, and the right one will be obvious within a few minutes.
31 mph, with about 45 miles in Eco and 25 in Sport or Race, from a 2400W peak motor. It reaches 0 to 30 mph in about 9.5 seconds.
Hydraulic front double shock absorbers with a hydraulic rear trailing arm. The trailing arm keeps the rear wheel moving in a controlled arc rather than straight up and down, so it stays planted through corners as well as over bumps.
It is rated against powerful water jets from any direction, so heavy rain is within it — Segway put it as not needing to seek shelter at the first sign of rain. Standing water is still a bad idea, and never charge a machine that is wet or a battery that looks swollen. Bring it straight in to us.
330 lbs, the top of the Segway electric scooter range and matched only by the GT3 Pro.
87.1 lbs. It folds, and it fits a car, but it is a machine you wheel rather than carry. If it has to come up stairs, look at the Max G3 instead.
Yes, built in. The GT3 appears on your iPhone alongside your phone and keys.

The stability enhancement system, working where an 87 lb electric scooter at 31 mph most needs help: high speed, hard cornering and slick roads. Traction control sits underneath it.
About 5.5 hours on 230V and about 6.5 hours on the 115V supply you have at home, for an 899Wh pack.
Segway rate it for riders 5 ft 3 in to 6 ft 6 in, aged 18 to 60. The 40.9-inch wheelbase and 7.2-inch ground clearance make it a long, stable platform rather than a nimble one.
The GT3 Pro is a different machine: dual motors, 50 mph, 86 miles in Eco, 117 lbs and $1,000 more. The GT3 is the one you can still reasonably commute on, and for most riders it is the sensible top of the range.
The Max G3 is 33 lbs lighter and $200 cheaper, at 28 mph and 25 miles. The GT3 adds hydraulic suspension at both ends, IPX6 sealing, a 330 lb payload, nearly twice the range and a much more planted ride. Weight is the deciding question: if the electric scooter lives at ground level, take the GT3.
A year of cover through us as standard, and we handle any claim with Segway for you. Segway is a brand we carry rather than one we design, so the three-year cover on Wilson’s-designed rides does not apply here.
Our own technicians, at all six shops, with express service available at every one. We service any brand, whether you bought it from us or not.
