The MAX, with the ceiling lifted
The Segway Max G3 electric scooter arrives set to 20 mph, and goes to 28 mph once you enable High Speed in the Segway Mobility App. That is worth knowing before you buy, because it is the difference between the number on the box and the number you ride.
30% climb · 597Wh · 11″ self-sealing · 286 lb payload · 54.2 lb
The Max G3, feature by feature
Segway list thirteen things about this electric scooter. These are the ones that change how it rides.
Fifty miles, and what each mode really returns
Segway publish the range mode by mode rather than as one number: about 50 miles in Eco, 40 in Drive, 34 in Sport and 25 in Sport+. That candour is useful. Plan around the mode you actually ride in and the figure holds up.
Three and a half hours, or two and a half
The charger is built into the electric scooter, so one cable is all you carry. Add a second cable and the two run together to bring a full charge down to about 2.5 hours. The second charger is sold separately, and we stock them.
Adjustable hydraulic at both ends
Hydraulic damping front and rear, and adjustable, which is rare at this price. Adjustable matters because a 130 lb rider and a 250 lb rider want different settings, and you can set it rather than live with a compromise.
Eleven inches, self-sealing to 4 mm
A jelly layer inside closes punctures up to 4 mm as they happen. Combined with an 11-inch tubeless casing, that removes most of the reasons a ride ends early.
Disc at the front and the rear
Braking at both wheels, which is the specification to want on an electric scooter rated to carry 286 lbs at 28 mph.
SegRide stability enhancement
Segway's own system for keeping the electric scooter composed when the surface or the speed stops being kind — hard cornering, wet paint, loose grit.
It unlocks as you reach it, and it knows where it is
Pair the Max G3 with the Segway Mobility App once and it unlocks over Bluetooth as you walk up to it. Fold it and it powers itself off. Neither is a headline feature; both are the sort of thing you notice every single day.
Apple Find My is built in. Switch it on through the Segway app and the electric scooter appears in Find My alongside your phone and keys — no second app, no subscription.
We set both up in the shop before you leave, because a tracker only helps if it was switched on before you needed it.

Lighting that does not wait to be asked

Automatic 6W headlight
It reads the light around it and switches on by itself, and the beam angle adjusts so you can aim it where you actually ride rather than at the treetops.

Underglow that flashes with the indicators
Lights under the deck flash along with the turn signals. Being seen from the side is the part most electric scooter lighting forgets, and it is the part that matters at a junction.
A 2.4-inch display that earns its space
The Max G3 carries a 2.4-inch smart TFT display, and Segway have given it things worth showing: turn-by-turn navigation, caller ID, and smart charge management.
Navigation on the bar is the one that changes a commute. Following a route without taking your phone out, in the rain, at a junction, is a genuinely different experience from the alternative.
Smart charge management lets you cap how full the battery charges. Holding a lithium pack at 100% is what ages it fastest, so if your commute only needs 60%, charging to 80% and stopping is how the pack still holds its range in three years.
It is a small screen doing a large job, and it is one of the clearest reasons to take the G3 over the G2.
- Display — 2.4″ smart TFT
- Navigation — Turn-by-turn on the bar
- Calls — Caller ID
- Battery — Charge limit, set in the app
- Payload — 286 lbs

Who the Segway Max G3 electric scooter fits
Segway rate the Max G3 for riders 5 ft 3 in and taller, aged 16 to 55, up to 286 lbs. Those are their figures and they are worth checking against the person who will ride it.
It weighs 54.2 lbs and folds to 48 by 23.2 by 23.3 inches. That is a two-handed lift rather than a one-handed carry, and it fits a car boot flat without dropping the rear seats.
If the electric scooter has to come up stairs every day, say so in the shop and we will show you something lighter. If it lives at ground level or goes in a car, the weight buys you the suspension and the battery, which is a trade most riders are glad of.

One figure to read carefully: Segway list the top speed as about 20 mph as the electric scooter is delivered, and about 28 mph once High Speed is enabled in the Segway Mobility App. Both appear above, and we will walk you through the setting in the shop.
Ride it at 28, not at 20
Six shops across New York and California. We unlock High Speed, set the suspension for your weight and pair Apple Find My before the electric scooter leaves, so what you ride home is the electric scooter you paid for.
Segway Max G3, answered
How powerful is the motor on the Segway Max G3?
It peaks at 2000W, which is double the Max G2. That is what gives 28 mph, a 30% climbing slope and 0 to 15 mph in about 2.4 seconds in Boost Mode. It pulls away from a standstill on a hill without drama, which is the part you feel most.
Is the Max G3 really 28 mph out of the box?
No, and this is worth knowing before you buy. Segway ship it limited to about 20 mph, and 28 mph is unlocked by enabling High Speed in the Segway Mobility App. It takes a moment and we do it with you in the shop.
What is the real range, and what is SegRange?
Segway publish it by mode: about 50 miles in Eco, 40 in Drive, 34 in Sport and 25 in Sport+, from a 597Wh battery. SegRange is their own name for tuning the motor, tires and controller together to stretch that figure rather than treating them as three separate parts.
How long does the Max G3 take to charge?
About 3.5 hours using the charger built into the electric scooter, so there is only one cable to carry. Add a second charging cable and the two work together to bring it down to about 2.5 hours. The second charger is sold separately and we stock them.
What is the SegRide Stability Enhancement System?
Segway's own system for keeping the electric scooter composed when conditions stop being kind — high speed, hard cornering, a slick surface. It works alongside the traction control rather than instead of it.
What does the display show?
It is a 2.4-inch smart TFT carrying turn-by-turn navigation, caller ID and charge management. Navigation on the handlebar is the one that changes a commute, because you stop taking your phone out at junctions.
Can I limit how much the battery charges?
Yes, through the app. Holding a lithium pack at 100% is what ages it fastest, so if your ride only needs half the range, capping the charge at 80% is how the pack still holds its miles in a few years. It is a genuinely useful setting and almost nobody uses it.
What brakes does it have, and does it have ABS?
Discs at the front and rear. Braking at both wheels is the right specification for an electric scooter carrying up to 286 lbs at 28 mph. Bring it in and we will show you how it stops before you commit.
What suspension does the Max G3 use?
Adjustable hydraulic suspension at both ends. Adjustable is the important word: a 130 lb rider and a 250 lb rider want different settings, and this lets you set it rather than live with an average. We set it for your weight before you take it away.
Are the tires puncture proof?
They are 11-inch self-sealing tubeless. A jelly layer inside closes punctures up to 4 mm as they happen, so most of what ends a ride early simply does not. Nothing is puncture proof, but this is about as close as an electric scooter tire gets.
Is the Max G3 waterproof?
It carries an IPX5 water-resistance rating, so light rain and wet roads are within it. Avoid standing water. One safety point worth stating plainly: never charge an electric scooter that is wet, or one whose battery looks swollen or damaged. Bring it straight in to us instead.
Does it work with Apple Find My?
Yes. Enable it through the Segway Mobility App and the electric scooter shows up in Find My beside your phone and keys. It also unlocks over Bluetooth as you approach and powers off by itself when you fold it.
How heavy is it, and will it fit in my car?
54.2 lbs, folding to 48 by 23.2 by 23.3 inches. It lies flat in a car boot without dropping the rear seats. It is a two-handed lift, so if it has to come up stairs daily, tell us and we will show you something lighter.
Max G3 or Max G2?
The Max G2 is 22 mph on a 1000W motor with 43 miles of range, for $500 less. The G3 doubles the power, adds the 2.4-inch navigation display, adjustable hydraulic suspension, self-sealing tires and Apple Find My. If the display and the suspension do not matter to you, the G2 is still a lot of electric scooter.
What warranty comes with it?
A year of cover through us as standard, and we handle any claim with Segway for you. Segway is a brand we carry rather than one we design, so the three-year cover on Wilson’s-designed rides does not apply here.
Who services it, and can you get parts?
Our own technicians, at all six shops, with express service available at every one. We service any brand, whether you bought it from us or not.
