NAVEE UT5 Ultra X

Two numbers nobody else publishes

Most electric scooter specifications stop at watts and miles. NAVEE prints the frame geometry of the UT5 Ultra X, and at 43 mph that is the part doing the quiet work: an 86 mm trail that holds the front wheel straight, and a 154° rear deck angle that sets where your weight sits.

Side-profile geometry of the NAVEE UT5 Ultra X A schematic side view showing the steering axis meeting the ground ahead of the front tyre contact patch by 86 millimetres, and the rear deck rising at 154 degrees. 86 mm trail 154° REAR DECK ANGLE 12″ SELF-HEALING

Trail is how far ahead of the front tyre’s contact patch the steering axis meets the road. More trail means the wheel self-centres harder and tracks straighter at speed. 86 mm is chosen to keep that stability without making the steering heavy at walking pace.

Rear deck angle sets where your back foot sits and how your weight loads the rear wheel. 154° is NAVEE’s balance between a flat, comfortable stance and enough rake to keep the rear planted under power.

1284Wh at 60 volts

Seventy-four point six miles, and what it costs to go faster

The pack is a 60V 22.3Ah unit at 1284Wh, the largest NAVEE fits to anything. It returns 74.6 miles at 9.3 mph, and 37.3 miles at a sustained 24.9 mph — and it is worth noticing that even the hard-riding figure beats most electric scooters’ headline number.

Both motors are rated at 1200W and peak at 2400W, giving 4800W across the two wheels when you ask for all of it. That is what produces 43 mph and a 46% climbing rating, the steepest in the range.

Charging takes six hours, or about three in flash mode, which is quick for a pack this size.

NAVEE’s own long-range system tunes the battery, motor and tires together rather than treating them as three separate parts, which is where a figure like 74.6 miles comes from.

NavXride

Steering you can dial in, mid-ride

Adjustable steering damping. A control on the steering column switches between soft and hard. Soft gives light, responsive steering for filtering through a car park at walking pace. Hard adds resistance for stability once you are moving quickly. Being able to change it without tools, at the kerbside, is unusual on any electric scooter.

NavXride enhanced stability. NAVEE’s own system for keeping it composed in the situations that ask most of it: high speed, hard cornering and slick surfaces. It works alongside the TCS traction control rather than replacing it.

Dual hydraulic suspension. Hydraulic damping at both ends, which controls the rebound rather than just absorbing the hit. On a broken road surface that is the difference between one bump and three.

Twelve-inch self-healing tubeless tires. Sealant inside closes small punctures as they happen, which at 43 mph is worth having.

  • Steering — soft/hard damping, adjustable on the column
  • Stability — NavXride, plus TCS traction control
  • Suspension — dual hydraulic
  • Tires — 12″ self-healing tubeless
  • Brakes — front and rear oil disc, plus EABS

The details

What you actually touch

A 3.5-inch LED display carrying speed, battery level and riding mode in a size you can read at a glance rather than a squint.

Automatic headlights that switch on in low light on their own, and change between high and low beam as you ride. One less thing to remember on the way home.

A frame lock built in, so it locks to itself wherever you leave it, and Apple Find My so you can see where that is from your phone.

The deck measures 220 by 545 mm, which is long enough to stand with your feet staggered fore and aft — the stance you want at speed.

Questions

NAVEE UT5 Ultra X, answered

How fast is the NAVEE UT5 Ultra X?

43 mph, from two motors rated at 1200W each and peaking at 2400W each. It is the fastest electric scooter in the NAVEE range.

How far does it go on a charge?

NAVEE rates it at 74.6 miles at a steady 9.3 mph, or 37.3 miles at a sustained 24.9 mph. The 1284Wh pack is the largest they fit, and the faster of those two figures still beats the headline range of most electric scooters sold.

What is trail, and why does the 86 mm figure matter?

Trail is how far ahead of the front tyre’s contact patch the steering axis meets the road. The more of it there is, the harder the front wheel self-centres and the straighter it tracks at speed. 86 mm is the figure NAVEE settled on to keep the electric scooter stable at 43 mph while leaving the steering light enough to manoeuvre at walking pace.

What does the adjustable steering damping do?

A control on the steering column switches between soft and hard. Soft is light and responsive for low speeds and tight spaces; hard adds resistance for stability at pace. You can change it at the kerbside without tools, which is rare on any electric scooter.

What is NavXride?

NAVEE's own enhanced stability system. It keeps the electric scooter composed in the situations that ask the most of it — high speed, hard cornering and slick surfaces — and it works alongside the TCS traction control rather than instead of it.

What suspension does it use?

Dual hydraulic suspension, front and rear. Hydraulic damping controls the rebound as well as absorbing the initial hit, which on broken asphalt is the difference between feeling one bump and feeling three.

What are self-healing tires?

Twelve-inch tubeless tires with sealant inside, which closes small punctures as they happen rather than after you have stopped. On a electric scooter this quick, that is a specification worth paying for.

How steep a hill can it climb?

46% gradeability, the steepest figure in the NAVEE range, from 4800W of combined peak power across two driven wheels.

How long does it take to charge?

Six hours from a standard outlet, or about three hours in flash charge mode. That is quick for a 1284Wh pack.

Is it waterproof?

It carries an IPX6 rating, so light rain and wet roads are within it. Avoid standing water. One safety point worth stating plainly: never charge an electric scooter that is wet, or one whose battery looks swollen or damaged. Bring it straight in to us instead.

How heavy is it?

90.4 lbs net, 102.1 lbs gross, folding to 1258 by 620 by 650 mm. It is a machine you wheel rather than carry, and it fits an estate car boot with the seats down.

What brakes does it have?

Oil-filled disc brakes at both ends plus EABS electronic regenerative braking. Hydraulic discs give more consistent feel under repeated hard use than cable-operated ones, which is the right specification at 43 mph.

Does it have lights and a display?

A 3.5-inch LED display for speed, battery and mode, and automatic headlights that switch on in low light and change between high and low beam as you ride.

UT5 Ultra X or NT5 Ultra X?

Both are dual-motor. The NT5 Ultra X is 40 mph, 55.9 miles and 80.5 lbs on 10.5-inch tires, for $1,000 less. The UT5 Ultra X adds hydraulic suspension, 12-inch self-healing tires, the adjustable steering damper, a 1284Wh pack and 74.6 miles. It is the flagship in every sense.

What warranty comes with it?

A year of cover through us as standard, and we handle any claim with NAVEE for you. NAVEE is a brand we carry rather than one we design, so the three-year cover on Wilson’s-designed rides does not apply here.

Who services it, and can you get parts?

Our own technicians, at all six shops, with express service available at every one. We service any brand, whether you bought it from us or not.
