Hiboy MAX Pro

Forty-six and a half miles between plugs

Every electric scooter quotes a range. This one quotes 46.6 miles, which is the longest figure Hiboy publishes for any electric scooter it makes, and it comes from a 48V 15Ah pack rather than a bigger claim on a smaller battery.

23 miOut and back on one charge, without looking for an outlet at the far end.
5 × 9 miFive nine-mile commutes before the charger comes out. That is a working week.
15 × 3 miOr two weeks of short errand runs on a single fill.

Forty-six and a half miles is a figure you spend across a week, not an afternoon.

The pack sits flat in the deck, which is why the ride is not top-heavy.
Three speeds, one throttle

Pick the pace before you set off

The MAX Pro runs three modes, and they are not badges. Each one caps the top speed, so the mode you choose sets how hard the motor is allowed to work and how far the battery goes.

22S · mph
Full output. Open road, long straights, keeping up with traffic where the law allows it.
16D · mph
The everyday setting. Quick enough for a commute, calm enough for shared paths.
11E · mph
Easy mode. Crowded sidewalk edges, first rides, and the setting that stretches the battery furthest.

Cruise control comes on with three presses of the power button, so you can hold a steady speed on a long stretch without keeping pressure on the throttle. Speed limits for electric scooters vary by city, and New York City caps them at 20 mph.

Suspension and tires

Sprung at both ends

Front and rear suspension, not one or the other. Most commuters at this size sprung only the back, which leaves the front wheel to pass every seam and pothole straight up the stem into your hands. Here both ends have travel, and the 11-inch air-filled tires take the rest.

Air tires also mean the pressure is yours to set. Softer for rough streets, firmer for a longer run on smooth ones. The split wheel hub is a quieter piece of design that matters the day a tire needs changing.

Lit on three sides, braked on two wheels

A 3.0W LED headlight throws a real beam rather than marking your position, and there are side lights along the deck plus a taillight. Being seen from the side is what matters at junctions, and it is the light most electric scooters leave out.

Braking is shared: drum brakes front and rear, backed by electronic braking through the motor. Drums sit sealed inside the hub, so wet roads and road grit reach less of the mechanism than they do an exposed disc.

Folded

Down to less than half its height in one move

Standing, the MAX Pro is 51.2 inches tall. Folded, it is 23.6. The stem drops onto the rear fender and latches there in a single step, and the footprint on the floor does not change.

Four ways to take it home

The same electric scooter, kitted differently

Every version below is the identical MAX Pro underneath. What changes is what comes with it, so pick on how you plan to lock it, sit on it, or ride it with someone else.

Basic

The electric scooter, the charger and the tools. Everything in the specification below, nothing added.

With U-Lock

Adds a U-lock. Worth it if the ride spends any part of the day parked outside a building you do not control.

With Seat

Adds the detachable seat post and saddle. Turns a 46.6-mile range into something you can actually use in one sitting.

2-Pack

Two MAX Pros. For households where one always seems to be out when the other person wants it.

Questions

Hiboy MAX Pro, answered

How far does the Hiboy MAX Pro go on one charge?

Up to 46.6 miles from the 48V 15Ah battery. Rider weight, terrain, temperature, speed and which ride mode you use all change the figure you see in practice.

How fast is the MAX Pro?

22 mph in S mode, 16 in D, 11 in E. Check your local rules before riding at the top of that range; New York City sets a 20 mph limit for electric scooters.

How long does it take to charge?

Eight to nine hours from empty with the supplied charger. Most riders leave it on overnight, and with this much range that is not a nightly job.

Does it have suspension?

Yes, front and rear. Combined with 11-inch air-filled tires, that is what separates it from commuters that suspend one end only.

Are the tires air-filled or solid?

Air-filled, 11 inches, front and rear. Pressure is adjustable to suit your weight and your roads, and we set it free at any of our shops.

What brakes does it use?

Drum brakes on both wheels plus electronic braking through the motor. Drums are enclosed in the hub, which keeps water and grit off the working parts.

Can it climb hills?

Hiboy rates it to 20 degrees, which is steeper than most commuter electric scooters manage. The 650W peak output is what does the work on a long climb.

What is the maximum rider weight?

265 lbs, or 120 kg. That is the highest load rating in the Hiboy range, and the widened deck and 6061 aluminum frame are built around it.

How heavy is it and does it fold?

51.59 lbs, and it folds in one step to 23.6 inches tall. Fine for a car trunk or a flight of stairs.

What does the app do?

It connects over Bluetooth and lets you switch ride modes, change between mph and km/h, lock and unlock it, and turn the lights on and off.

Can I ride it in the rain?

It carries an IPX4 rating, so splashes and light rain are within what it is built for. One safety point worth stating plainly: never charge an electric scooter that is wet, or one whose battery looks swollen. Bring it straight in to us instead.

What is the difference between the four versions?

The ride is identical in all four. Basic is the electric scooter and charger, With U-Lock adds a lock, With Seat adds a detachable saddle and post, and the 2-Pack is two of them.

Who is the MAX Pro for?

Riders whose problem is distance. If you charge more often than you would like, or your route is long enough that range dictates the plan, this is the one in the Hiboy line built for it.
