The NAVEE GT5 Max electric scooter is built around traction control, which almost nothing at this price carries. TCS watches how fast the driven wheel is turning against how fast you are actually moving, and trims power the instant those two disagree. Here is what that looks like on a wet drain cover.
Full power meets a slick patch, the wheel outruns the road, and the ride squirms until grip returns. Brief, and unwelcome at 25 mph.
Power is trimmed for a fraction of a second, the wheel keeps rolling, and the ride simply carries on in the direction you pointed it.

The pack is 596.7Wh at 46.8 volts, and it fills in five to six hours. For a five-mile commute each way that is a charge roughly every fifth day, which is the kind of interval that keeps an electric scooter in use rather than in a hallway.
The NAVEE app manages it, and Apple Find My is built in, so the electric scooter shows up in the same place on your phone as your keys and your headphones.

Drum at the front, disc and EABS at the rear
An unusual combination and a well-judged one. A front drum brake is sealed against water and grit, so it behaves the same in February as in July. A rear disc gives the sharper, more modulated bite. And EABS, the electronic anti-lock system, manages regenerative braking through the motor and returns a little charge while it does.
Three systems sharing the work means none of them is asked for everything, and it is why a 286 lb load rating on a 25 mph electric scooter is a comfortable proposition.
Suspension is a front fork with a rear damping cylinder, tuned for city surfaces rather than trails. Expansion joints, kerb ramps and broken asphalt are what it was designed around.

Carrying and storing. 24.8 kg folds to 580 mm tall, which fits a car boot or stands in a hallway. Wheeling it is easier than lifting it, and ground-floor or lift access makes ownership effortless.
Charging. Five to six hours is an overnight or a working day. With 55.9 miles available, most riders plug in twice a week rather than nightly.
The app. Speed modes, battery health, lock and Apple Find My all live there. It is worth setting up on day one rather than a month in, because the tracking only helps if it is switched on before you need it.
Tire pressure. Tubeless tires still lose air over time, and correct pressure is what keeps both range and steering feel where they should be. We check and set it at every service.

One note on the numbers: a summary card on NAVEE's own page reads 20 mph while their specification sheet and their product description both say 25 mph. We publish 25 mph, which is what the sheet states, and we have raised the discrepancy with them.

What is the top speed and real-world range of the NAVEE GT5 Max?
NAVEE rates it at 25 mph with up to 55.9 miles measured at a steady 9.3 mph on flat ground with a 165 lb rider. For everyday mixed riding — stop-start traffic, moderate hills, higher speeds — NAVEE’s own estimate from the 596.7Wh pack is 30 to 45 miles. On a ten to twenty mile round-trip commute that is two to three days of riding between charges. What we like is that NAVEE publishes the test conditions rather than leaving them unstated.
What does TCS traction control actually do?
It compares how fast the driven wheel is turning with how fast the electric scooter is moving. When those disagree, which is what wheelspin is, it trims power for a fraction of a second until the wheel grips again. On wet paint, drain covers and loose grit that is the difference between the electric scooter tracking straight and squirming.
What suspension does the GT5 Max use, and how does it handle rough roads?
A front fork paired with a rear damping cylinder, tuned specifically for city commuting rather than off-road use. The rear cylinder soaks up expansion joints, kerb ramps and broken asphalt, which is what a commute is actually made of.
